Former officers from the army and the Ministry of Interior have pledged the caretaker government for new regional governors.
As of 9 a.m. on Thursday, all previous ones have been released, and 24 new ones will take over the duties, government spokesman Anton Kutev explained after a meeting of caretaker ministers on Wednesday afternoon.
So far, there are no appointments of new regional governors for Sofia-city, Varna, Dobrich and Silistra. There, the posts will be temporarily taken over by the current deputy managers.
The Prime Minister Stefan Yanev has instructed the new regional governors that they must guarantee the fairness of the July 11 vote and fight against vote buying, Kutev explained.
12 of the newly appointed 24 regional governors are former police officers or army officers, but the Ministry of the Interior predominates.
