Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to Receive $1 Billion in Passive Income in 2024

Jakarta

For most people, passive income is a little extra money that requires little effort to earn. But for the former CEO of Microsoft Steve Ballmer, the amount reached USD 1 billion or around Rp. 15 trillion without him needing to do anything.

Ballmer, the sixth richest person in the world, will collect dividends of that size from Microsoft in 2024. Quoted detikINET from CNN, this happened after the technology giant increased its quarterly dividend payments to 75 cents per share, or USD 3 per share per year.

Since Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, owned 333.2 million shares of the company in 2014 (the last time he filed an ownership disclosure), or the equivalent of a 4% stake, he would receive nearly USD 1 billion in the 2024 fiscal year.

That’s his quota because he owns a lot of Microsoft shares, regardless of how they perform, so it could be said that Ballmer is just hanging around to get them.

Looking at his life history, Steve Ballmer first met Bill Gates when they were both still students at Harvard University. After graduating in 1977 with a major in mathematics and economics, Ballmer began his career at Microsoft as assistant to the company’s president.

His role there is quite important, because it concerns business management to create fast-growing software. He then rose to the rank of president, then rose again to become CEO of Microsoft from 2000 to 2014 before being replaced by Satya Nadella.

In 2014, he resigned from Microsoft and purchased the LA Clippers basketball team. Currently, according to the Bloomberg Billonaires Index, Steve Ballmer’s wealth is around USD 131 billion.
