The record company of the former member of the duet “Moloko” has also stopped promoting the new album “Hit Parade” and, according to the source of the “Toronto Star” newspaper, has committed to donate all income to the organizations of the transgender movement.
“Please don’t call me a terf (a trans-exclusionary radical feminist). But puberty blockers are totally missed, absolutely pathetic,” Murphy wrote on her private Facebook page in August.
“Pharmaceutical giants get a lot of money easily. Little confused children are easily hurt and need to be protected. It’s just the truth,” said the singer, soon sparking a fierce debate on social networks.
The new album comes out on Friday and was due to be supported by two shows in London that have now been cancelled.
Murphy’s supporters call the incident another example of a culture of repeal.
British choreographer Rosie Kay tweeted her outrage at the attack on Murphy, describing it as appalling.
“If you need support please let me know,” Kay wrote to Murphy. “There’s a whole army of artists here who are ready to support you and want to end the culture of cancellation. It’s bad for audiences, bad for women, bad for children and stifling to the arts.”
We remind you that the singer has performed several times in Latvia.
