Former Mauritanian President Admits to Relative’s Land Acquisition through Council of Ministers Decision

Al-Marsad Newspaper: The former Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, acknowledged that Mohamed Fal Weld Ellah, known as “Afil Weld Ellah”, acquired a piece of land during his rule by a decision of the Council of Ministers.

piece of land

Ould Abdel Aziz said, “I know it well, and this is not a waste. It is not the first piece of land granted by the Council of Ministers.”

legitimate way

Ould Abdel Aziz pointed out: “The young man’s name is Muhammad Fal Walad Allahah, and he is indeed my relative. If this kinship existed, then the piece of land was obtained in a legal way, and it is not the first piece of land granted by the Council of Ministers and not the last.”

Council of Ministers

He continued that the Minister of Finance who granted it was one of the beneficiary’s cousins, and he was forbidden to grant him this piece, indicating that when he presented the file to the Council of Ministers, he returned it several times, in the presence of 27 ministers who were present and knew all the details, according to the Mauritanian “Sahara Media” website.

Corruption crimes

It is worth noting that Ould Abdel Aziz appeared before the Criminal Court specialized in corruption crimes on charges of squandering public funds and state resources, when I asked him about a plot of land of 32,000 square meters in Nouakchott that the Council of Ministers granted to one of his relatives that it would be allocated to a cement company that had no trace of it.
