Reports suggest that Argentina international and former United defender Marcos Rojo refused to reach an agreement with Inter Miami even after Messi contacted him directly on the phone.
Rojo is currently playing with the Brazilian club Boca Juniors. The player’s tenure at Boca Juniors is until 2025.
Rojo spent six years at Old Trafford from 2014 to 2020. Rojo has played 122 games for the Red Devils this season and has two goals and four assists to his name.
According to a report by Spanish publication Sports Bible, Messi and the Miami coach have been trying to get the star into the team.
Along with Messi, the Herons also planned to bring in current Boca Juniors star and ex-Barca star Christian Medina.
But the report suggests that Boca Juniors coach and Argentina legend Riquelme Rojo sent a message on WhatsApp saying ‘I’m staying here’. Because of this, it is clear that the star will not be a part of Major League Soccer soon.
