The Benfica striker is claimed to be getting closer to joining the Red Devils, but is instead advised to abandon them in order to become “world class” at Liverpool
Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has suggested that Benfica striker Darwin Nunez reject Manchester United in order to become a “world class” player together The Reds Jurgen Klopp’s care.
The Uruguayan striker scored 34 goals in 41 appearances for the Portuguese giants last season (2021/22) and has become one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
Especially Man United, which is said to want to annex the 22-year-old striker to sharpen their front line. But a former Liverpool defender believes Nunez would be better off moving to Anfield, where he could develop into a “world class” star.

Enrique’s declaration was in response to the news that The Reds will soon lose Sadio Mane, who is said to be looking for a new challenge.
With the Senegal striker set to leave, Enrique pushed Nunez to turn down Man United’s proposal and to become Mane’s successor.
Responding to an article claiming United were the favorites to land Nunez, Enrique wrote at Instagram Story: “Hopefully this is not true and he prefers to join us [Liverpool]. We have to go after him, a top player who can be world class at the bottom [Jurgen] Klopp if we sell Sadio Mane.”
Although Liverpool are also claimed to be interested, they have to compete with many fans. Newcastle and West Ham were both reported to have approached Nunez in January, but the line for clubs seeking his services has only gotten longer as his form has grown in Portugal and Europe.
Apart from Man United and Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are also said to be interested, while Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with him.
