A person who has been identified as a former official of the Legislative Branch has been found dead on the terrace of the Legislative Palace, in the north center of Quito.
According to official information, the lifeless body of a “former official” of the National Assembly was found hanging from one of the beams of the Legislative Palace. The former official was reportedly fired in February.
A Police Forensic Medicine truck was briefly in a parking lot of the building. The legislators, who were debating the report for the second debate of the Reform Bill to the Labor Codehave interrupted their discussions to observe a minute of silence.
For a moment, people were prohibited from entering and leaving the building.
Until the afternoon, the identity of the deceased was unknown.
