Former legend Zinedine Zidane has responded to the Messi or Ronaldo debate
There is one question that always perplexes football fans, leads them to heated debates and sparks quarrels among fans. Messi? Ronaldo? Who’s the best? Who is the GOAT? (The best of all time).
Football legend Zinedine Zidane has given his opinion on whether modern football legends Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo are better.
Zidane said the competition between Ronaldo and Messi is fascinating, but believes Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player of all time.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best. Messi is his rival. This is a match that everyone is excited to watch. But Ronaldo is extraordinary. There are no words to describe it. He is the best player of all time,’ Zidane said.
Meanwhile, Messi made his Barca debut in 2003 at the age of 16 against Porto. Ronaldo broke into mainstream football in 2002 at the age of eighteen with Sporting Lisbon.
Rono has scored 701 goals in his football career so far, while Messi has 695 goals.
Ronaldo scored his 700th goal for Manchester United. With this, Ronaldo became the first footballer to complete 700 goals in club football.
Ronaldo is ahead of Messi in terms of club goals. But Messi became active in club football games two seasons after Ronaldo started playing.
Messi scored 73 goals in one season in 2011-2012. Rono’s highest mark is 61 goals scored in the 2014-2015 season.
But in terms of assists, Messi is far ahead of Ronaldo. While Messi has created a total of 296 scoring chances for teammates in club football, Ronaldo’s teammates have scored 201 times from assists.
Ronaldo is ahead of Messi in the Champions League, which is considered one of the best tournaments in world football. Ronaldo scored 140 goals in 183 Champions League games, while Messi scored 129 goals in 161 games.
But Messi has an advantage over Rono in the World Cup soccer tournament. Rono scored eight goals in 22 World Cup matches. Messi scored 11 goals in 25 games. Messi is also the player who has scored the most goals for Argentina at the World Cup.
