Former Krivbass SMM specialist Roman Lopatin commented on his failure to return to Ukraine after traveling abroad with the club.
“When I returned to Ukraine, no one instructed me and I did not sign anything.”
— Roman, we would like to hear your comment regarding the fact that you did not return to Ukraine after the Krivbass women’s team went abroad?
“I don’t understand why it resonated so much.” Officially, I did not violate any law; in the Constitution of Ukraine there is no ban on either leaving or entering. I left officially, I did not cross the border illegally.
Journalists promoted my story against the backdrop of hype from the act of Shakhtar football player Rosputko, who went to Russia. It’s totally trash.
I have certain family circumstances that I cannot talk about publicly, so I have decided not to return [в Украину]. I quit Krivbass in advance.
During the war, Dovbik, Trubin, Mudrik, Garmash left us. Why is everyone silent about them? And I named only the most famous football players. We have some kind of double standards. I did not break off relations with Ukraine, I supported, support and will support my country and continue to donate. What exactly am I being charged with?
— There is now martial law in Ukraine and men of military age are prohibited from traveling abroad. You were traveling with permission from the Ministry of Youth Sports as part of the Krivbass delegation and were supposed to return to Ukraine after a certain number of days.
“Nobody instructed me about this and I didn’t sign anything that I had to return.” I understand that now is a difficult time for Ukraine and such issues are fragile matter.
“My departure occurred in the middle of summer, three months ago, when the Krivbass women’s team went to control matches in Poland. My relatives came there and took me away.”
— «Krivbass did not know that you were not planning to return and the Krivoy Rog team contacted the police, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, as well as the border guards about this. This is true?
– Don’t know. I’ve never even heard of that. What can they contact the police about? I didn’t break any law.
— You say that you left the club in advance. Why then were you part of the Krivbass delegation on the road trip?
— I promised that I would finalize the training camp because I didn’t want to let the club down. On the legal side, Krivbass and I have settled everything, I am grateful to them for this year that I worked. It was cool.
— “Krivbass” knew that you would not return to Ukraine?
“I don’t think they knew.” I just had family circumstances. My family is abroad.
— You said that you completed your training camp and left, but according to media reports, your departure occurred during the Women’s Champions League matches, so where is the truth?
— Regarding the women’s Champions League, this is not true. My departure occurred in the middle of summer, three months ago, when the Krivbass women’s team went to control matches in Poland. My relatives came there and took me away. That’s all.
— Did you communicate with Krivbass after you left?
– No, no one called me, and neither did I. We broke off the legal relationship and wished each other good luck.
“I signed a contract with the German fifth league club Zedenik. There will be a presentation soon”
— How would you evaluate your action from a moral point of view?
— Certain circumstances have arisen in my life and from a moral point of view I should now be with my family. I think anyone in my situation would do the same, because family comes first, and then all other issues come.
— Viktor Vatsko said on the air of his program that he heard from colleagues that you had been saying for a long time that you were planning to go abroad. This is true?
– No, I had no such plans.
– Where are you now?
– In Germany. I, as a football player, signed a contract with the club of the fifth league – Zedenik. There will be a presentation soon. That is, I have the same situation as with our other football players who play abroad.
— Do you plan to return to Ukraine?
— Of course, when circumstances change, but for now this is impossible.
– Because of war?
— No, due to family circumstances. Now I have even more opportunities to support the country and do something useful.
— What can you say about Krivbass photographer Roman Medvedev, who also did not return to Ukraine?
– He has his own story. I will not speak for another person.
