Former Chairman Roh came out after completing an investigation at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Public Crime Investigation Unit at 9:30 tonight and said, “The reason residents resigned and vacated the hospital was because of the government’s wrong medical policy,” and added, “It is because of the government’s wrong medical policy that residents leave the medical field after seeing my SNS post.” “I claimed to the police that it wasn’t happening,” he said.
He continued, “There is no evidence of collusion (related to collective action),” and criticized, “It is a very petty act for the government to pass responsibility to a few individuals, knowing that there would be strong resistance after announcing the increase in medical schools.”
He also emphasized that “the only evidence presented by the police was what I posted on social media,” and that “being investigated for more than 11 hours even though I only posted my personal opinion is something that can never happen in our country, where there is freedom of thought and expression.”
Regarding the ongoing “medical crisis,” he said, “About 300 cases of damage have been reported so far, and it is expected to increase further.” “Not a single doctor wants that situation, but painful decisions now will save more people’s lives in the future.” “It’s because I have a firm belief,” he claimed.
He again urged, “The government must listen to the sincerity of doctors and take the lead in resolving the situation.”
Previously, former Chairman Roh was accused by the government on the 27th of last month on charges of inciting collective action by posting on his SNS that he supported the submission of resignation letters by medical residents and provided legal support.
Among the five current and former executives of the Korean Medical Association, the police first summoned and investigated Joo Soo-ho, chairman of the media and public relations committee of the Emergency Response Committee of the Korean Medical Association, and today summoned former chairman Roh.
Even before the investigation began, former Chairman Roh said, “As a senior doctor, I have never had any contact with any resident groups, individuals, or medical associations other than expressing my regrets about residents on social media.”
