Former KLM boss De Juniac leaves aviation organization IATA | NOW

Former CEO Alexandre de Juniac of Air France-KLM is resigning from his position at IATA. The international aviation advocacy group has already found a successor in the person of Willie Walsh, who until recently was at the helm of IAG, British Airways’ parent company.

A statement from IATA circulated on Monday states that De Juniac has already decided to stop several months ago. He believes that the organization has successfully passed through the first phase of the corona crisis and that it is now up to someone else to guide the next steps.

The Juniac switched from Air France-KLM to the interest group in 2016. He will hand over the baton to Walsh on 1 April next year. The Irishman recently retired from the IAG, where he stayed on for several months longer than planned to help that company through the crisis.

The annual meeting of IATA still has to approve the appointment.
