Kochi > Former Kerala cricket team captain and Kerala Cricket Association Apex Council member K Jayaraman (Jayaram-67) passed away. Died due to cardiac arrest in Ernakulam. K Jayaram, a right-handed batsman, was one of the key players in the Kerala Ranji team in the 80s. He was the chief selector of Kerala senior teams for many years. He was born on April 8, 1956 in Ernakulam. In the 1986-87 season Ranji Trophy, Jayaram, who shone with four centuries in five matches, is the Kerala player who came close to the Indian team selection. In first class cricket, he scored 2358 runs including 5 centuries and 10 fifties in 46 matches. 133 is the highest score. After retirement, he worked as the chief selector of the Kerala team. He was also a member of the National Junior Selection Committee. In 2010 BCCI became a match referee. Officiated six List A matches and two First Class matches.
