Former Karo Paminal Hendra Kurniawan Sued for 3 Years in Jail and a Fine of IDR 20 Million

Former Karo Paminal of Propam Polri Division Hendra Kurniawan demanded a prison sentence. Prosecutors believe the former one-star general was involved in vandalizing CCTV which hindered the investigation into the murder of Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat.

“Demand that the panel of judges who examine and try this case decide to declare the defendant Hendra Kurniawan legally and convincingly proven guilty of taking any action that results in disruption of the electronic system and/or causes the electronic system to not work as it should,” said the prosecutor at the Court. South Jakarta District, Jalan Ampera Raya, South Jakarta, Friday (27/1/2023).

“Sentenced a sentence against the defendant Hendra Kurniawan 3 years in prison,” he added.

Prosecutors believe Hendra violated Article 49 in conjunction with Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (UU ITE) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code. He was also demanded to pay a fine of Rp. 20 million. If not paid then replaced with 3 months in prison.

In this matter, Hendra Kurniawan was charged with being involved in the destruction of CCTV which hindered the investigation into the murder of Brigadier N Yosua Hutabarat. The prosecutor said that the action was carried out by Hendra along with six other people.

The other six defendants are Ferdy Sambo, AKBP Arif Rachman Arifin, Agus Nurpatria Adi Purnama, Chuck Putranto, Baiquni Wibowo, and AKP Irfan Widyanto. They were charged in separate files.

Specifically for Ferdy Sambo, he was also tried in the premeditated murder case against Yosua. Sambo has been sentenced to life in prison.
