Former K-League Player Acquitted of Charges Related to Venereal Disease Transmission: What You Need to Know

The former K-League professional soccer player who was handed over to the prosecution on charges of producing the disease by having sexual intercourse despite knowing he was infected with a venereal disease.

According to investigating authorities on the 2nd, the Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office obtained the freedom of Mr. A, who was released without arrest by the police last May on charges of causing injury, due to lack of evidence

Before that, the police referred Mr. A to the prosecutors on charges of injury, saying that Mr. A, who was known to have a sexually transmitted disease, was suspected of having transmitted the disease by having sex with B, woman, even though he knew he could transmit the disease.

Police began an investigation after Mr B lodged a complaint containing these claims last December.

At the time, police explained, “We recognized Mr. A’s intent and charged him with causing injury,” he said, “If we didn’t know, it would be negligence, but ‘we know their intention.”

The prosecutors found Mr. A not guilty, however, saying that there was not enough evidence to prove the charges after an investigation that lasted about three months.

After making his professional debut in Europe, Mr. A returned to Korea and debuted in the K-League as the first pick in the rookie draft.

When it became known that Mr. A had been sued for injury, his professional football team announced that the contract had been terminated, stating, “Player A has expressed his intention to terminate his put on the contract to the club so that it does not burden the club. and the team.”
