Former junior representative Radek Mužík returns to the Czech Republic after five seasons in the north of Europe – not to his mother Pilsen, but to rival Sparta.

Mužík started this season in the Finnish Tappara: he played for it in fifteen games, including the Champions League, but scored only one point and subsequently agreed with the big Tampere club to terminate the contract early.

Now the 22-year-old power forward is returning to the Czech Republic – with Sparta, with whom he has been training since Thursday, he signed a one-year contract with a possible option.

“David Vitouch did not finish the match in Pardubice due to injury and will be absent for a long time. We are also accompanied by some other injuries. That’s also why we, together with the coaches, decided to expand and improve our staff even more,” explains Tomáš Divíšek, head of the sports department, on the Pražani website.

“Radek Mužík fits perfectly into our team. He is a shapely young player who, at the age of twenty-two, has played four seasons in the demanding Nordic leagues. We expect emphasis from him in the area in front of the goal and outside it,” Divíšek looks forward to the 192-centimeter-tall reinforcement.

From 2018 to 2023, Mužík played for Swedish Lulea, in whose jersey he made 154 starts in the Swedish top flight (with a record of 8+9) and won a valuable silver medal with them in the spring of 2022.

“I felt that I would like to return to the Czech Republic. And when Sparta called a few days ago, I took all ten of them,” explains Mužík in an interview for hcsparta.cz. “I really have no idea what to expect from the extra league, because I’ve never played it. But it will be an interesting and new experience .”

It is not yet clear whether he will make his debut for Sparta in Friday’s derby with Kladno or on Sunday against Pilsen, where he worked until his teenage years. “I was still on the ice in Tappara on Monday, so I’m ready to jump in at any time,” Mužík reports. it would be an interesting premiere.”
