Former James Bond villain is dead – VG

Actor Michael Lonsdale (89), best known from the James Bond film “Moonraker”, has died.

The French-British actor Michael Lonsdale, who became best known as the main villain in the James Bond film “Moonraker”, has died, 89 years old.

It reports the official Twitter account of “James Bond” on Monday.

– He was an exceptionally talented actor and a very dear friend. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this sad time, it says in the message, signed producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

In the film, Lonsdale played the character Hugo Drax, an industrialist who planned to poison all the people on earth and then populate the planet from his space station.

He played against “James Bond” star Roger Moore, as on his Twitter account writes about the sad news.

In his over 60-year career, he played over 200 different roles in English and French.

In addition to his role as a bond villain, Lonsdale is known for critically acclaimed films such as “The Jackal” in 1973, “Ronin” in 1998 and “Munich” in 2005.
