Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi hospitalised with chronic leukemia and lung infection

Silvio Berlusconi, former Italian head of government, was hospitalized in intensive care on Wednesday April 5 in Milan for a respiratory problem. The day after his hospitalization, the Deputy Minister of Culture Vittorio Sgarbi, a friend of Silvio Berlusconi, announced that he had leukemia. Dubbed ‘the immortal’ for his longevity in politics, the 86-year-old media mogul has chronic leukemia and a lung infectionthen explained his doctors in the afternoon.

“It’s hard, but I’ll get through it again this time”, assured Silvio Berlusconi in the Friday edition of the daily Il Giornale. This Monday, the doctors displayed “cautious optimism” indicating that his state of health is gradually improving. “The last 48 hours have seen a gradual and stable improvement in the monitoring of organ functions,” the doctors said in a statement. The treatment is producing “the expected effects, which allows us to express cautious optimism”, they added.

The former Prime Minister remains in the intensive care unit at the prestigious San Raffaele hospital in Milan, the doctors further specify. Last month, the billionaire had already spent four days in this same hospital.
