Former Prime Minister Italia Silvio Berlusconi died at the age of 86 on Monday (12/6).
To AFPA spokesperson for Berlusconi confirmed that the media mogul and billionaire had been hospitalized in Milan since Friday last week before he died.
Berlusconi is being treated for tests related to his leukemia.
Berlusconi has a rare blood cancer. The news of Berlusconi being treated came three weeks after he returned from the hospital after being treated for six weeks at Milan’s San Raffaele Hospital.
Before cancer, Berlusconi had been in pain for years from heart surgery in 2016 to hospitalization in 2020 for the coronavirus. Despite being re-elected to the Senate last year, he is rarely seen in public.
In the midst of his health condition, Berlusconi remains the official chairman of the right-wing Forza Italia party in the coalition government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Berlusconi led Italy three times between 1994 and 2011 or a total of nine years.
During his tenure as the number one person in Italy, Berlusconi’s influence not only penetrated the world of politics but also became one of the important figures in the world of sports, especially Italian football.
