At the dawn of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the Premiers de Cordée association, which specializes in sports initiation for hospitalized children, organized a “rugby” afternoon on Wednesday at the Maison des parents of the hospital. Purpan, funded by the Ronald McDonald Foundation.
“Sport is a way to escape. They are the ones who gave us life lessons today, ”assured Vincent Clerc, former Stade Toulousain winger between two passes. Godfather of the association and of the House, he introduced the children to rugby during several workshops.
For body and soul
A moment of relaxation also for the brothers and sisters of these little patients. “It’s good for the children, it allows them to learn a sport they don’t know,” admits the mother of Aaron, 9, who took part in the activities.
A priority for the association which works for the well-being of children through the practice of sport.
“The idea of these sporting actions is obviously to get them out of their rooms, to offer them time where they can spend time, meet friends and find their families to share around sport”, insists Julie Garcia, the director of the “Rugby Tour” event. The opportunity also to transmit the social and physical values of rugby and to “be able to move, exercise and wake up sleeping parts of the body or other depending on the different pathologies”, she concludes.
