Former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov Comments on GERB’s Ultimatum to PP-DB

Tsvetan Tsvetanov commented on GERB’s ultimatum to PP-DB.

“The request of GERB-SDS is pointless. There is no way before the first exploratory mandate is handed over and we see if it will be fulfilled, that the first power should impose conditions on the second. We see no content in their talks,” said the former Minister of Internal Affairs and leader of “Republicans for Bulgaria”.

According to him, 6 months will be enough for the two coalitions to implement the legislative package in relation to the PVU and adopt a budget.

With such political confrontation and misunderstanding by the police about their responsibility, society will pay the price. “No one is talking about what will happen to PVU, because out of 4 billion last year we received 2.5 billion. They announce it as a merit of the Cabinet, but this is not the case,” he pointed out.

According to him, if the president accelerates the delivery of the mandates, but does not allow for tolerance, then “we are going to elections”.

“If we have early parliamentary elections before the local ones, it means that even the small authority of the local government will be wasted and lost. In the event that a campaign immediately enters the local elections, it will be a disaster“, believes the former interior minister.

He predicted that even after the potential next elections, no way out of the political crisis will be foundfrom which all political parties will lose.

Tsvetanov is of the opinion that currently the formations in the National Assembly have mutually blocked each other and must make a compromise.

“It is more reasonable for the political leaders to remain in the National Assembly, because their groups are not enough to support a government and be able to form a sustainable majority,” he emphasized to Bulgaria ON AIR.

Tsvetanov was categorical that “local elections will be the backbone of stability”. He emphasized that there should be new parliamentary elections, but after the local vote, since the CEC will not handle the organization.

The leader of “Republicans for Bulgaria” believes that the judicial reform “as perceived by each of the parties, will not happen”.
