Former Inter boss praises Juventus’ courage in lifting Pirlo as coach

Jakarta

Juventus decided pointing Andrea Pirlo as the new coach replacing Maurizio Sarri. This move was praised by the former President Inter Milan Massimo Moratti.

Pirlo was officially appointed by Juventus as coach on last Sunday (9/4/2020). Pirlo replaces Sarri, who was sacked after just one season following disappointing results in the Italian Super Cup, Coppa Italia and Champions League.

Juventus’ decision to choose Pirlo is quite inviting, especially when considering their big ambitions in the Champions League. Previously, the Bianconeri were linked with a number of names, including Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, and Pep Guardiola.

Pirlo does have a classy history as a player, but he still has zero experience as a coach. In fact, it was only at the end of last July that he was appointed to handle the Juventus U-23 team.

But that decision was not without support either. Legendary Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero believes Pirlo has the potential to surpass Zidane’s accomplishments as coach so far.

Former Inter President Massimo Moratti salutes the courage of Juventus President Andrea Agnelli. Now he wonders whether this decision will yield positive results.

“Agnelli is acting brave and I am very curious about this choice. He (Pirlo) deserves to be compared to Zidane and Guardiola for his history as a champion,” said Moratti.

“It will be very interesting to see the results of this gambling,” he added Tuttomercatoweb as quoted Football Italia.
