Al-Marsad newspaper: The former head of General Intelligence, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, categorically condemned the targeting of civilians by the Israeli and Hamas sides in the ongoing war between the two sides.
The right to resist
Prince Turki said in a speech he delivered at the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University in Houston, USA, that all militarily occupied peoples have the right to resist their occupation, even by military means, indicating that he does not support the military option in Palestine and prefers civil disobedience, which brought down several Eastern European empires.
He stressed that Israel has militarily superiority in this war, which is what we saw in the destruction of Gaza.
Condemning Hamas
He also condemned Hamas’ targeting of civilian targets, which belies its claims that its identity is Islamic, saying: “I condemn it for providing an excuse for this hateful government to ethnically cleanse Gaza of its residents and completely destroy them. I condemn it for undermining the Palestinian Authority, and I condemn it for sabotaging Saudi Arabia’s attempt to reach a peaceful solution for the Palestinian people.”
Israel’s bombing of civilians
He added: Equally, I condemn Israel’s indiscriminate bombing of innocent civilians, and I condemn Western politicians for crying when Israelis are killed by Palestinians and refusing to even express sadness when Israelis kill Palestinians.
He also condemned Israel’s destruction of Palestinian homes and olive trees and the storming of places of worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
Prince Turki explained that during this year alone, 450 people were killed, including 67 children, calling for an immediate end to the bloodshed between the two sides.
