Alfred Riedl passed away at the age of 70. As reported Sport24, Tuesday (8/9/2020) evening WIB, the Austrian passport tactician died on Monday (9/7/2020) evening local time.
Riedl was recorded as refining the Indonesian national team in three different periods, namely 2010-2011, 2013-2014, and 2016-2017.
The coach’s best moment with the Indonesian national team was clearly at the 2010 AFF Cup. At that time, the gray haired coach succeeded in bringing the Garuda squad to the top party.
Unfortunately, the Indonesian Senior National Team surrendered from Malaysia in the final.
In the 2016 edition, Riedl brought the Indonesian national team back to the AFF Cup final. However, the Garuda squad just finished again runner-up after bowing to Thailand in the top match.
Riedl himself had collaborated with the club participating in the 2020 League, Persebaya Surabaya in September 2019.
However, the coach failed comeback train in the country because of health problems. He has to undergo surgery bypass heart then.
As a coach, Riedl’s own name is actually quite famous in Southeast Asian football. He was considered successful when he coached the Vietnam and Laos national teams.
In addition, Riedl has also coached the Iranian national team as well as his country’s national team, namely Austria.
