New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Joginder Sharma, who is a police officer, is among the accused in the case related to the suicide of Pawan, a native of Hisar. Six persons including DSP Joginder of Haryana have been accused in the case.
27-year-old Pawan, a native of Hisar, committed suicide on January 1 following a property dispute. According to the complaint filed by Pawan’s mother with the police, six persons, including Joginder Sharma, mentally tortured her son in a property dispute case and his son committed suicide due to this mental anguish. Refusing to receive Pawan’s body, the family staged a sit-in protest in front of the Hisar CMO office demanding the arrest of those responsible for their son’s death.
Apart from Joginder, hockey coach Rajendra Singh, Ajayveer, Ishwar Jajaria, Prem Khati and Arjun are the other accused in the case. But Joginder Sharma responded that he has nothing to do with the case and does not know the person called Pawan.
Joginder, who made his debut for India in 2004, caught the attention of the cricket world by bowling the last over against Pakistan in the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup final. After that he got appointed as DSP in Haryana Police. He retired from international cricket in 2023.
