On 14 October, known as the “Festa della Ferrovia”, is the 150th anniversary of the opening of the railway. Toshi Otsuki, 81, from Kawame, city of Morioka, exhibits objects from the era of the Japanese National Railways at his home on the occasion of the milestones. Mr. Otsuki, who worked with her late husband Ryosuke (deceased), who served as the stationmaster of various parts of the prefecture during the days of the former National Railways, worked hard to promote the use of the station.
The living room table is lined with markings on the train’s head, scissors to cut tickets, nails to attach the rails to the sleepers, JNR flags, bracelets and badges worn by drivers and others. More than 100 pieces can be seen around the house, including those given by Ryosuke’s colleagues.
The tour is open until the end of this month. For information, please contact Mr. Otsuki (019-653-5536).
