Former hockey player Maartje Paumen and girlfriend have a baby | NOW

Maartje Paumen, who ended her career as a top hockey player in May 2018, and her friend Savannah Hamming have a child. The 34-year-old Paumen announced this to her on Friday Instagram.

“Jaaaaaaaa soon we will be the three of us”, the former hockey player writes with a photo in which the two hold a photo of an ultrasound. She continues: “My most beautiful woman is pregnant … so happy and proud.”

It will be the first child for the couple who got engaged last year after Paumen proposed to her friend in Austria. It is not yet known when Hamming is due.

Voted World Player of the Year

Paumen played 235 times for the Dutch hockey team and scored 195 goals. She won twelve prizes with the Orange squad, including Olympic gold in 2008 and 2012. After the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, where the Netherlands captured silver, she ended her international career.

In 2011 and 2012 Paumen was named World Player of the Year. With 368 goals, she is the all-time top scorer in the Dutch big league.

After her hockey career, Paumen started working as an assistant coach of the MOP women’s team from Vught.
