An investigation has been launched into the dealings of a former investigator with associates of notorious criminal, Gerry “The Monk” Hutch. The man, who is in his 60s, has been accused of divulging confidential information obtained during his time as a member of the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc). He was arrested on suspicion of this offence and remains in custody. Gardaí believe that the man had a long-standing relationship with the Hutch family and are now conducting further inquiries to ascertain the full extent of his dealings. In a separate development, a man in his 40s was arrested in connection with the 2016 murder of Eddie “Neddy” Hutch, the older brother of “The Monk”.
