London, Sep 05 (EFE) .- British singer Sarah Harding, who was a member of the band Girls Aloud, died this Sunday at the age of 39 after fighting for more than a year with breast cancer, announced her mother, Marie .
“It is with deep sadness that I share the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has unfortunately died. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so hard from diagnosis to her last day. She has peacefully turned off this morning,” he wrote his mafre on Instagram.
In her message, Marie thanks everyone for their support over the past year and says her daughter would not want to be remembered for her fight against cancer, but for being “a shining, shining star.”
Last March, Harding herself revealed in an extract from her memoir (“Hear Me Out”) published by the newspaper “The Times” that she would not live until Christmas this year, due to the metastases that the breast cancer suffering
“I do not want an exact forecast. I do not know why someone would want it. Comfort and not having pain as much as possible is what is important for me now,” acknowledged Harding then, who said trying “to live and enjoy every second “of your life,” no matter how long it’s going to be.
The singer admitted that revealing her diagnosis publicly last summer was “scary” while calling it “the right thing to do.”
In her last message in life, through social networks, Harding was “overwhelmed and happy” by the success of her last song, of the same title as her memoir, after reaching number 1 on the list of downloaded songs on iTunes.
Harding rose to fame in 2002 when the Girls Aloud group topped the charts with their work “Sound of the Underground.”
After the dissolution of the band in 2013, the singer focused on her acting career and, musically, in 2015 she made her solo debut with the single “Threads.” EFE
