Marieke van Beek, the former girlfriend of Rachel Hazes, must return a back-up of administration from the court. Van Beek took these documents with her when she left Hazes’ company as office manager in 2020. With that, Hazes is right in this case.
The judge came to this judgment earlier, but Van Beek appealed against this. She wanted to use the documents as evidence for other lawsuits that are pending between her and Hazes.
Van Beek must give the back-up to an independent lawyer. Van Beek and Hazes have jointly appointed them.
The court believes that Van Beek must be able to effectively defend himself in the other cases, so Hazes’ former girlfriend must be given access to the documents if necessary. In that case, she can request the necessary information from the lawyer.
Best friends also worked together
Hazes and Van Beek were not only the best of friends, but also worked together. Until March 1, 2020, Van Beek worked as an office manager and personal assistant at Melvin Produkties, Hazes’ production company. André Hazes founded the company and left it to his wife.
When Van Beek left the company, she took the administration with her. In doing so, she did not honor an earlier agreement.
She would also have shared confidential information with other people and would therefore not have adhered to the duty of confidentiality. That would have happened, for example, in the other lawsuits in which Van Beek is involved.
Hazes and Van Beek are also involved in other matters
The case about the administration is not the only thing Hazes and Van Beek have a dispute about. There is also a legal battle between the two women over a rented house. Hazes believes that Van Beek owes her a large amount in rent.
Van Beek is also involved in a lawsuit that Hazes brought about a power of attorney that she provided in 2016. She provided this to Van Beek, Hazes’ daughter Roxeanne and former business partner Rob Israël. Hazes claims that this trio abused the power of attorney.
