One of the KPK fugitives, Izil Azhar, has been arrested in Banda Aceh. Former GAM Commander KPK officially detained as a suspect in corruption.
monitoring detikcom, Wednesday (25/1/2023), Izil Azhar initially arrived at the KPK building at 19.43 WIB. He appeared to have been wearing a KPK prisoner’s uniform with his hands handcuffed.
Izil Azhar then entered the examination room to be examined as a suspect. After being examined for almost an hour, Izil then left the examination room at 20.54 WIB.
Ex Panglima GAM then came out accompanied by investigators. The KPK prisoner’s clothes and handcuffs are still attached to Izil Azhar’s body.
The KPK tonight will hold a press conference to explain the circumstances of the corruption case that ensnared Izil Azhar. Izil is suspected of having participated in receiving gratuities worth Rp. 32 billion with former Aceh governor Irwandi Yusuf, who was previously serving a sentence.
This case began when the former Governor of Aceh, Irwandi Yusuf, was named a suspect in receiving gratuities. Irwandi is suspected of receiving Rp 32 billion in gratuities related to the Sabang pier project.
Izil is one of Irwandi Yusuf’s confidants. Izil was summoned by the KPK to testify in the Sabang pier project gratuity case.
However, Izil, who has the status of a witness, has repeatedly been absent from KPK summons. Then on December 26 2018, the KPK officially included Izil on the wanted list.
Former GAM Commander was allegedly involved in the alleged gratification case of the Sabang pier project with Irwandi Yusuf. Both are suspected of violating Article 12B of the Law on Corruption Eradication juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
This case stems from the KPK’s investigation into corruption in the construction of the wharf which was funded by the 2006-2011 State Budget in 2013. The total value of the project was Rp 793 billion.
The KPK suspects that there was a state financial loss of IDR 313 billion due to irregularities in the project. Along the way, a number of people have been sentenced, namely Heru Sulaksono (former head of PT Nindya Karya’s North Sumatra branch), Ramadhani Ismy (former PPK), Ruslan Abdul Gani (former head of BPKS and KPA), Teuku Syaiful Ahmad (unfit to trial/devolved to the Attorney General’s Office to be sued by TUN), as well as 2 corporations, namely PT Nindya Karya and PT Tuah Sejati.
Meanwhile, Irwandi Yusuf has been sentenced to 7 years in prison. It is understood that he is currently out on parole.
