Sam Bankman-Fried, the co-founder of failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX, was arrested in the Bahamas at the request of US authorities and has indicated his intention to waive his right to oppose extradition in court, and a trial will be held on the 21st in a court in the capital Nassau.
A court official told reporters the hearing would begin Thursday at 11am local time. The hearing may result in immediate extradition.
ABC News reported Thursday that Bankman-Fried had signed papers regarding extradition to the United States.
Bankman-Fried’s attorney, Jerone Roberts, appeared in court on Thursday. He declined to comment to reporters as he left the courthouse.
