A man in his 20s is charged with having inflicted a concussion on Per Sandberg when he knocked down the former FRP politician at his bar in Halden.
It was on the night of 30 December last year that, according to the indictment, the man allegedly hit Per Sandberg in the face with a clenched fist and put his arm around his neck from behind.
Among other things, Sandberg suffered a concussion as a result of the violence.
Shortly afterwards, the man is said to have threatened to return and shoot the former fisheries minister.
Per Sandberg speaks Halden Arbeiderblad that he was sitting in the back room of the bar that night when the barkeeper came running in in full panic and said that there was a fight both inside the bar and outside.
– I hardly had time to open the door before I got a fist in the middle of the planet and was attacked by a person who, by the way, is not the first time at the Grand Bar and causing trouble, claims Sandberg.
The former Frp politician says that he has also reported the man for an incident in October last year, in which the man is said to have punched Sandberg.
– He has now destroyed two pairs of glasses, which cost around NOK 10,000 each. But that makes running a bar less fun, says Sandberg.
The man in his 20s is also accused of having threatened a police officer to shoot him in connection with his arrest, and during transport to the central detention center he is said to have tried to bite the police officer.
On the same evening, he is said to have also exhibited sexually offensive behavior towards two women at the bar by groping them on the body and grabbing the breasts of one woman.
The man’s defender, lawyer Øyvind Bratlien, writes in an SMS to NTB that he has no comment on the indictment.
