Co-founder of Karl May’s Circle of Friends
Famous lawyer, local politician and friend of Karl May: Albrecht Götz von Olenhusen died in Düsseldorf just before his 87th birthday.
Born on November 8, 1935 in Göttingen, Götz von Olenhusen studied law and economics in Göttingen, Freiburg im Breisgau and Zurich. He was a lawyer in Freiburg until March 2017. His specialty was copyright; he was always active in spectacular cases. In the 1980s, for example, he represented then SWR journalist Franz Alt, who was banned from moderating. From 1980 to 1999 he was – with a short break – for the SPD in the city council of Freiburg. He has represented his faction on various committees and supervisory boards of municipal corporations. Von Olenhusen is one of the co-founders of the Karl May Circle of Friends of Freiburg, founded in 2012. He has published numerous essays on the inventor of Winnetou and Old Shatterhand and on his Freiburg publisher Friedrich Ernst Fehsenfeld.
