Former Forum for Democracy members may also vote on Thierry Baudet’s fate | Inland

Several ex-FvD members report this to De Telegraaf. One of them has not even been a member of the party for two years. “Dumbfounded, I get an email from FvD to vote. Haven’t been a member for 2 years and I don’t want anything to do with it, ”an ex-member e-mails this newspaper.

Others have emailed the party several times to terminate their membership, because contribution money was still deducted after cancellation.

“This email allows you to vote on the Forum for Democracy binding referendum,” the email to members states, which also includes a unique voting code. When clicking through, the members come to a page that asks them the simple question: “Do you want Thierry Baudet to remain the party leader of FvD?” The question can be answered with ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

Paying members

According to the party, ‘paying members’ are allowed to participate in the referendum. Under the definition of a paying member, FvD classifies unique persons ‘who paid a membership fee last year (ie prior to 29 November)’. It is the same definition that the party uses for the annual declaration of membership numbers to the Ministry of the Interior.

“People who have canceled their membership, but have still paid a membership fee, can participate in the membership consultation,” the FvD website states. “Whether they want that is up to them.”
