Former Football Player David Limberský Faces Prison Time for Extortion with Firearm

Former football player David Limberský is on trial. The public prosecutor filed an indictment against him and three other men for extortion. Limberský and his accomplices were to threaten a man from Karlovy Vary with a gun in their hand because of an unpaid loan. The former representative faces up to eight years in prison for this.

Expensive cars, exotic holidays and luxury all around. That’s how former national team player David Limberský is now enjoying his football retirement. Instead of scoring goals in the opponent’s goal, he should have threatened a person who owed him money in August. And a firearm should have played a role in the threat.

“The 39-year-old man was supposed to demand from the 32-year-old man the payment of funds that he should have provided in the past for the purchase of computer equipment for cryptocurrency mining,” informed police spokesman Jakub Kopřiva.

The fact that the troublemaker known as “Limba” might not see his loved ones for eight years is not too hard on him. He posted a short video on social media where he provocatively shows the number of years he faces in prison on his fingers. “Well, I’ve known this for a long time, it’s not a surprise to me. I did everything to get it to that court, so we’ll defend ourselves there,” said Limberský.

David Limberský was supposed to lend 4,000,000 crowns to a man from Karlovy Vary. After the debtor was not to be returned, Limberský and his cronies were supposed to go to somewhat gangster ways. Limberský should have shouted at the victim that he wanted his money back. Immediately, one of the four defendants was supposed to pull out a pistol on him, with which he was supposed to first hit him in the back of the head and then put it to his head.

“I can’t comment on that. I would like to, but I can’t. I will only comment in court. Of course, I maintain my innocence,” added Limberský.

The fact that Limberský is a magnet for problems is also confirmed by his other cases. His accident in 2015, when he drunkenly crashed his black stinger worth several million, filled the front pages. He should have inhaled over one and a half per thousand at that time. Instead of repenting, he celebrated the goal a few days later by spinning an imaginary steering wheel.
