Leslie van Houten, 73, who was convicted in 1971, was the youngest member of the bloodthirsty cult.
Two years before her conviction, when she was only 19 years old, she killed a merchant and his wife with several stab wounds. He then smeared the blood of the murdered on the walls.

The murder came just days after the murders of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate and four others by members of Manson’s cult.
Van Houten was convicted of two counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
Initially, the defendant was sentenced to death like other members of the gang, but in 1972 the California Supreme Court ruled that these laws were unconstitutional.
The former cult member is now hoping to find work. Instead of imprisonment, she worked as a teacher.

The most famous crime of the Manson gang is the murder of Hollywood actress Sharon Tate and guests in her house. The crimes were committed together so that each member of the gang was responsible for the crime.
