Former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, who lost the parliamentary elections in April, will leave Finland to live in London.
Marin will join former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s think tank, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Reuters reported on Thursday.
The institute, which according to its website has more than 750 employees, advises governments and leaders on strategy, policy and technology. She stepped down as leader of her Social Democratic Party last week, and will now also step down from parliament. “I think this will be an activity that will benefit Finland as well,” Marin said. She did not rule out running for future elections or running for top European jobs, but said she had no such plans at the moment.
Finnish Prime Minister: We made a mistake by getting closer to Russia
Marin was the world’s youngest prime minister when he took office in 2019 at the age of 34. After guiding the country through the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent economic turmoil, she became a vocal supporter of Ukraine after the Russian invasion and successfully brought Finland into NATO.
