Former Finance Minister’s Son Accused of Kidnapping and Murder in Money Dispute

The money dispute dates back to 2009.

The victim of the brutal murder, Kiril Rusev, took a large sum of money from Stoyan Alexandrov back in 2008 with a 1-year deadline to return it and did not return it, including to his son Petar as his heir, “24 Chasa” learned.

The long-standing dispute over money is at the heart of the brutal crime, unraveled by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office in just hours. Petar Alexandrov, the son of the late former finance minister Stoyan Alexandrov, is accused of Rusev’s kidnapping and murder. He died on August 24, 2020. After politics, he was involved in business, including lending. It was for this reason that he was charged in 2018 by the prosecution, when witnesses spoke of high penalty interest rates being imposed on them. Kiril Rusev was one of Stoyan Alexandrov’s clients. The contract between Stoyan Alexandrov’s company and Rusev is for 306 thousand US dollars. He was also charged penalty interest, with the amount he had to pay back doubling over the years. For this, he signed promissory notes, but did not pay. Disputes about money are carried over even after the death of the father. Until January 4th, when Rusev goes to meet his son Peter and is killed and then prepared for cremation with fake documents.

Petar Aleksandrov and Alexander Kinov are expected to appear before the Sofia City Court today on the prosecutor’s request for a permanent measure of detention in custody for both of them.
