According to him, extending the budget is not a problem.
“There is speculation that he will stop paying pensions – this is not the case, there is enough money. At least until September, things will be normal. After that, there should be a budget, and also for next year,” explained the former finance minister.
However, he is of the opinion that inflation in our country is high, and the same applies to the deficit. Also, in consecutive years, our country does not meet the criteria for the Eurozone.
“It is absolutely impossible to enter the Eurozone with a 4% deficit. If there were any weaknesses in this caretaker government, they were under Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov. It failed to deal with the Recovery Plan. We need to be below a 3% deficit and with lower inflation. This was dropped during the previous regular cabinet, when Asen Vasilev was finance minister. I hope he learned his lesson this time. I think it is“, he said.
According to him, one does not enter the Eurozone with personal talks and compromises.
“In the first cabinet, Asen Vassilev did poorly as finance minister, but I think he has grown a lot. He needs to talk to the people in parliament.
