AS Roma is saying goodbye to , the club announced via official channels. The right back was no longer in the plans of coach Daniele De Rossi, as was clear for some time.
In the summer of 2017, the Romans paid sixteen million euros to take over Karsdorp from Feyenoord. Since then, the right back would play no fewer than 157 matches for the Yellow and redwho let him return to De Kuip on loan in the 2019/20 season. After that, however, he returned to his Italian employer.

Karsdorp was a regular starter when Roma won the Conference League in Tirana in the 2021/22 season, at the expense of Feyenoord. Less than six months later, the three-time Oranje international was eliminated after a 1-1 draw at Sassuolo publicly criticized by his then coach José MourinhoThe Portuguese spoke of ‘an unprofessional player’, among other things – without mentioning his name out loud – and is also said to have given Karsdorp a firm dressing down in the dressing room, in front of his teammates.

Karsdorp seemed to be leaving in January 2022, but miraculously a reconciliation with Mourinho occurred. After his dismissal in January 2024, club icon De Rossi took over. Under the former midfielder, Karsdorp was increasingly less involved. The contract of the former Feyenoord player, which ran until mid-2025, has now been terminated by mutual consent, Roma reports via the official channelsKarsdorp can therefore look for a new employer on a free transfer.
