Yingwei Financial Investments – On Monday, former Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who won the Nobel Prize in Economics for his research on the financial crisis, urged policymakers to pay attention to the risk of deteriorating global financial conditions.
In a press conference on Monday, Bernanke said: “Even if the financial problem hasn’t started to become a problem, over time it will worsen financial conditions and could exacerbate the problem, so I think we need to be very careful.”
Bernanke noted that while the US may face some financial stability risks, it certainly won’t be in dire straits 14 years ago.
While the US financial system is in better shape than when the financial crisis erupted in 2008, Bernanke expressed concern about financial conditions in other parts of the world. He stressed the pressure on the European financial system due to gas supply disruptions caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as emerging markets that are facing a strong dollar and capital outflows.
