Just under a year before its debut, Lamborghini’s LMDh program continues to build. The Italian manufacturer has signed former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat to help develop the Hypercar regulations prototype and race it in 2024 in the WEC.
We already knew that the Italian manufacturer’s program will be managed by Iron Lynx, and that Romain Grosjean will be one of the brand’s pilots. From now on, it is therefore Kvyat who is confirmed as the other headliner of the program.
“I am very happy to have joined Lamborghini Squadra Corse, it is a great honor for me” said the former AlphaTauri and Red Bull driver. “Lamborghini is a very well-known Italian brand with a great history in the automotive world and, having grown up in Italy, it is an additional source of pride for me.”
“We hope to achieve many goals together, I am grateful for the trust they have placed in me and I look forward to starting working with the Lamborghini Iron Lynx team on the LMDh project this year.”
Andrea Piccini, CEO of Iron Lynx, welcomed the hire: “We are delighted to welcome Daniil on board. The speed he has shown in F1 will be a huge asset to the team. Also, with a podium finish at Sebring on his WEC debut, he has made a strong impression.”
“It bodes well for his future in endurance racing. We look forward to testing the LMDh car with him this season before the real challenge begins in 2024.”
