Former Eurovision candidate takes her chance in new season ‘First Dates’ | TV

TVThe ‘First Dates’ restaurant opens its doors again on One. From Tuesday 23 November, singles from all over Flanders will take their chance again in the search for true love. During a romantic dinner with a carefully chosen table companion, the singles get to know each other better and let them look deeper into their hearts. It was previously announced that, in addition to the traditional search, there will also be ‘First Dates teens’, in which thirteen to eighteen-year-olds date for the first time.

Host Patrick, bartender Bram and waitresses Leena and Katelen are back in the third season of ‘First Dates’ and receive the guests with love, good advice and a listening ear. But if you look closely, you will also spot a new face: Ferdy. After participating as a dater in last year’s edition, the half-Moroccan, half-Persian, cheerful Limburger joins the crew of the ‘First Dates’ restaurant this year. A course that has its advantages, because Ferdy knows better than anyone how the nerves run through the body of the daters and what goes through their heads. His date with Giuseppe in season two has left him no love, but he continues to believe in true love. “When I see a head in love walking down the street, I can only think: I want that too”, Ferdy laughs.

One of the striking candidates who makes her appearance is singer Laura van den Bruel (26), known by her stage name Iris. She was barely seventeen when she went to the Eurovision Song Contest for our country in 2012 with the song ‘Would You’. Belgium then failed to qualify for the final and finished penultimate in the semi-final. The win that year went to Loreen with the song ‘Euphoria’.

Now Laura sings and plays in the pop rock group Avalone. She has a date with Pieter (26), a half-Chilean man with an artistic temperament and musical talent. He drums, plays guitar, piano, harmonica, viola, trumpet and also writes his own songs. He is looking for a muse, “a forest fairy”.

Teens version

The teens version is led by Leena, Bram, Katelen and Ferdy. Leena takes over the torch from Patrick for the occasion as maître. Until the arrival of Ferdy, Leena was the youngest member of the First Dates crew. She is close to the world of young daters and in real life she also has her own business where she is a hostess. A total of 1,300 sixteen to eighteen year olds signed up for this first season of ‘First Dates teens’. They do it not so much because they hope to find true love, but rather because of the dating experience itself. After all, real-life dating is not easy for young people in an increasingly digital age. This series of seven episodes was canned in honor of De Warmste Week.

The third season of ‘First Dates’ in numbers

– No less than 6,000 love seekers signed up for this third season. 220 of them actually came to eat at the restaurant, resulting in 110 filmed dates.

– Witse is the youngest dater at 18 years old. The 79-year-old Julien can proudly call herself the oldest dater of the company.

– 29% of the tenderers come from Antwerp, 25.1% from East Flanders and 17.6% from West Flanders. They are clearly happier in love in Flemish Brabant and Limburg, because only 12.8% and 11.5% of the bidders came from there, respectively.

– 53% of the registrants are male, 46% female and 1% X. Just under 8% of the registrants identify as LGBTQ+.

First dates can be seen every Tuesday at 21:40 on One from November 23. First dates teens can be seen from 20 December on antenna and on VRT NU.
