Now, a new report reveals how ex Microsoft employees named Volodymyr Kvashuk to the detriment of the company.

Reported IGN, Sunday (4/7/2021), Kvashuk was initially hired at Microsoft in 2016 as a software engineer.

He is tasked with testing the infrastructure running on the Microsoft Store online store, including using fake accounts to find bugs or glitches when making online payments.

While working at Microsoft, Kvashuk discovered a bug that generated a 25-digit code.

Later, it can be exchanged every time you make a fake transaction for a Microsoft gift card.

With this bug, it is able to generate an infinite number of codes that can be used to purchase various digital items, including games available on the Xbox store.

Unfortunately, Kvashuk didn’t tell Microsoft officials that he found a bug.

Instead of fixing it, he took advantage of this annoyance to sell the code through a third-party site, at 55 percent off the original price.

In addition, Kvashuk also uses a bug-testing email account attributed to his partner at Microsoft.

For the sake of launching the action, he also uses bitcoin services to hide the transaction results from the illegal sale.

Within seven months, Kvashuk transferred $2.8 million in bitcoins to his bank and investment account.

He also filed a fake tax form stating that the bitcoins were a gift received from a friend.

Gradually Kvashuk’s actions were revealed, he was then fired by Microsoft in June 2018.

Then in February 2020, Kvashuk was convicted of 18 federal crimes, deported back to Ukraine, paid $8.3 million in damages, and jailed until March 2027.
