Former Democratic Party Treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin’s Support for Prabowo-Gibran at Gemuis Event

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Former Democratic Party General Treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin was seen attending the Young Islamic Generation (Gemuis) event at Balai Kartini, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday (18/12/2023).

During the event, Gemuis declared his support for presidential candidate (capres) and vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 2 Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

However, according to Kompas.com monitoring, Nazaruddin was not visible when the event took place inside Balai Kartini.

In fact, he was seen talking to former Golkar Party Secretary General Idrus Marham outside the building before going home.

Nazaruddin wore a blue jacket with the words “Mosque Youth Volunteer”.

He also managed to laugh in a discussion with Idrus and a number of other parties who used jackets similar to him.

Meanwhile, Nazaruddin is a former convict in a corruption case in the form of bribery in the SEA Games Athlete Village construction project in Palembang in mid-2011.

He was only released from Sukamiskin Prison on June 14 2020.

His name was later also said to be one of the parties involved in the Democratic Party leadership coup movement in the hands of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

At that time, his figure appeared at the Extraordinary Congress (KLB) in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, March 5 2021.

It is known that currently the Democratic Party is also part of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) which supports Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
