Pieter Delanoy, known for ‘De mol’ 2018, tied the knot with his girlfriend Dauphine Mouton on Saturday. They gave each other the yes in the town hall of Bruges. Three years ago, the Bruges resident resigned from his priesthood. He fell in love with Dauphine and celibacy was too much for him. “In recent years I have regularly struggled with the limiting rules of the Church and the approach of the institution in this regard,” he said earlier in our newspaper.

Delanoy already announced during his mole adventure that he would resign as a priest because of celibacy. “That is not something of this century,” he said in an interview with Humo. “It’s not fair that I have to weigh the beautiful side of my job against a total lack of intimacy and physicality. I chose to be a priest, not to live celibate. I know it’s part and parcel of it, and that Rome won’t give in right away. And so sooner or later – but sooner than later – I will also have to be consistent and make a choice. Celibacy will prevent me from being a priest until my eightieth birthday,” he said.
Three years ago, he met the woman of his life, so he decided to break with the priesthood after ten years.
