Russian footballer Alan Dzagoev announced his retirement at the age of 33. About it it says in a statement by the footballer on the website of the Greek club Lamia, for which he has played since September 2023.
Dzagoev explained that he decided to end his career due to frequent injuries.
“Over the past five years I have suffered many injuries, which is why I made the decision so suddenly. It’s becoming difficult both mentally and physically,” the footballer said.
Alan Dzagoev is a three-time Russian champion with CSKA Moscow. He played for the capital club from 2008 to 2022. Together with CSKA, he won the Russian Cup four times and the country’s Super Cup three times. In total, he played 395 matches for the club and scored 77 goals. In September 2022, Dzagoev signed a contract with Rubin Kazan, for which he played 20 matches.
Dzagoev played 58 matches for the Russian national team and scored nine goals.
