Metal fans were hit with sad news. The former bassist of the band Cradle of Filth, in which two Czechs also play, Jon Kennedy died in a car accident at the age of 44.
The bassist, who played with the famous metal band in the 1990s, died in a car crash on the A55 in Wales last week. The newspaper informed about it on Wednesday Daily Mirror. More details about the crash are unknown, but no other cars were involved.
“He was a great bass player and singer who would pop into the Cradle at times that had a magical meaning, were full of chaos and mischief,” recalled Kennedy’s singer Dani Filth. “We will miss him. Goodbye old friend,” he added.
Hecate Enthroned, another band he played in in the 1990s, also remembered their former bassist, the website noted Metal Injection. “Jon’s passion for music was immense and at times all-consuming, which shows how well he is recognized in the black metal scene,” she wrote in a statement.
Cradle of Filth is a British band in which two Czechs also play. In 2006, Martin “Marthus” Škaroupka joined on drums and keyboards, eight years later guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda.
