Former Companion of Serial Killer to Stand Trial for Complicity in Mouzin, Domèce, and Parrish Cases

Former Companion of Serial Killer Michel Fourniret to be Judged at Assizes

The former companion of serial killer Michel Fourniret, Monique Olivier, will face trial at the Assize Court of Hauts-de-Seine for her alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of three victims – Marie-Angèle Domèce, Joanna Parrish, and Estelle Mouzin. The trial date has not yet been set.

The investigating judge of the “cold cases” division in Nanterre requested the dismissal of Monique Olivier, who is the only person implicated in these three cases since the death of Michel Fourniret in 2021. The trial will mark the first of the “cold cases” division dedicated to unsolved cases.

Monique Olivier, 74, has already been sentenced to life imprisonment for her complicity in four murders and gang rape committed by Michel Fourniret. She was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for her involvement in a fifth murder. The couple formed a relationship while Fourniret was imprisoned in the Fleury-Mérogis remand center in Essonne, following his conviction in 1984 for repeated rape and sexual assault. They later divorced in 2010 after having a son together.

Michel Fourniret, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of seven young women or adolescent girls between 1987 and 2001, died on May 10, 2021, at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris. Before his death, Monique Olivier had started providing information to the authorities.

In June 2004, she gave investigators a list of victims and later contradicted Fourniret’s alibi on the day of Estelle Mouzin’s disappearance in November 2019. A few months later, Fourniret confessed to his responsibility in front of Judge Kheris.

In April 2021, Monique Olivier admitted for the first time her role in the kidnapping of Estelle Mouzin, revealing that she had accompanied Fourniret to bury the girl’s body near the wood of Issancourt-et-Rumel in the Ardennes. Despite several excavation campaigns, the bodies of Estelle Mouzin and Marie-Angèle Domèce have never been found.

The upcoming trial will provide an opportunity for justice to be served for Marie-Angèle Domèce, Joanna Parrish, and Estelle Mouzin, as Monique Olivier faces charges of complicity in their kidnappings and murders. The trial will shed light on the extent of her involvement and bring closure to the families of the victims.

What evidence does the prosecution argue is sufficient to bring Monique Olivier to trial for her alleged involvement in Michel Fourniret’s crimes?

Livier’s case due to lack of evidence. However, the prosecution disagreed and argued that there is sufficient evidence to bring her to trial.

Olivier, who was married to Fourniret at the time of his crimes, has been accused of playing a crucial role in his killing spree. She allegedly lured the victims to their deaths or assisted Fourniret in kidnapping them. Fourniret, commonly known as the “Ogre of Ardennes,” was convicted in 2008 for the murder of seven young women and girls between 1987 and 2001.

The case against Olivier is centered around three specific victims. Marie-Angèle Domèce, a 19-year-old student, disappeared in 1988. Joanna Parrish, a British language assistant, was found raped and murdered in 1990. Estelle Mouzin, a nine-year-old girl, vanished in 2003. All three cases remained unsolved for years until new evidence emerged, linking them to Fourniret.

During the investigation, Olivier admitted her involvement in the crimes and provided crucial information that led to the discovery of the victims’ remains. She claimed that Fourniret had forced her to participate and threatened her if she refused. However, some question the credibility of her statements, as she has changed her version of events multiple times.

If found guilty, Olivier could face life imprisonment. The trial is expected to shed light on the extent of her involvement in Fourniret’s crimes and provide justice for the victims and their families. Authorities hope that the trial will also contribute to solving other unsolved cases connected to Fourniret and bring closure to additional families affected by his heinous acts.

The trial of Monique Olivier will undoubtedly be an intense and emotionally charged affair. It will serve as a harsh reminder of the atrocities committed by Michel Fourniret and the devastating impact his actions had on so many lives. Overall, the trial represents a crucial step towards holding all parties involved in these horrific crimes accountable and hopefully bringing some closure to the victims’ families.
