Many other former teammates also expressed their sadness. Tee Higgins (25), wide receiver of the Cincinnati Bengals and former teammate at Clemson, also spoke out, writing in his Instagram story: “Brother, I already miss you, man. I love you. This hurts me so much right now.”
Overton played for the Clemson Tigers from 2016 to 2019. During that time, the team even won the national championship in college football twice (2016 and 2018). In 51 games, he made 52 receptions for 777 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2019, his last season, he was even voted team captain.
However, he never made it to the NFL. After his college career, Overton played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Vienna Vikings of the Austrian Football League, among others.
